Suzuki DT140 not peeing

My motor has sat for about 8 months. Anyway, I have cleaned the carbs and also had to bolt on a new lower unit. Everything is running good except for one thing. My motor is not peeing. I have checked the impeller and it is good, I took the lower unit off and pump some water at pretty high pressure and it was peeing a little but this was without the motor running so I think that is normal being that there wasn't a lot of pressure. I bolted the lower unit back on and started the engine. The water was just dripping out of the pee hole. In fact my motor was peeing better whenever I had the lower unit off just pumping water with a hose when the engine off. Does anybody know what else I could do to solve this problem? Thanks

Re: Suzuki DT140 not peeing

Need some detail here:

Are you running it on muffs? My 98 140 does not like muffs. Very hard to get them to work even with the expensive ones with a hose to each side.

Are you running it in a barrel/bucket/etc? You must have the water level several inches over the cavitation plate or it will not work.

Other things to consider:

Have you looked at the thermostat? If there is corrosion in and around the thermostat there is a good chance the passages have some or a lot of corrosion. We don't know if this engine is used in salt water and if it has been flushed after every trip.

Any chance that a bug could have blocked your tell tale tube. Here in SC dirt dobbers and many other critters can and will get into a tube.

Any chance there are debris inside the engine like mudd, shells, chunks of an old descentigrated impeller that someone else neglected if you are not the original owner?

Check the lower unit:

You say the LU is "new" or is it just new to you? Check dloves threads on the overheat problems that he is having. If the exhaust rubber is bad on your LU it may never pick up water.

You can drop the LU, clamp a hose on the water pick up tube and make water come out of the tell tale. Don't turn it up too much or the pressure could blow your head gasket speeking of... any chance the head gasket is bad?

Chance are, if everything worked well before your LU chaged the LU then it is related to the change or something clogged the tell tale.

Keep looking...
