I tried to start my Suzuki DT 90 this past weekend and it won't fire.

Plugs are clean, it cranks over fine, impeller is working properly (I was using muffs) and the bulb is primed.

I only have 11 hours on it and still had an oil/gas mix in the fuel tank from the break-in period. I put Sta-Bil in the tank for the winter months and there is a water separator on the fuel line. I tried WD-40 in the cylinders (once)and it would want to start but wouldn't.

Do I need to drain the fuel and start with fresh fuel? What else can I do to troubleshoot this? The fuel and engine sat for about 5 months.

Please advise.

Try shooting some pre-mix in the carbs using a spray bottle and see if it will run for a bit? If so, you probably have fouled carbs and need to disassemble and clean them. WD 40 is not as flammable as it used to be.

Chances are your enrichment valve is stuck due to deposits left from evaporated fuel, especially with oil in the gas. Have someone listen for a "click" on the port side, behind the oil bottle, when you have the key turned on and pushed in. The valve is solinoid operated with a needle plunger. It should click when the needle is sucked into the solinoid. You may need to remove the enrichment valve and clean in carb cleaner. Be careful of the small spring on the needle.

Re: Suzuki DT 90 won't start

It took me a couple weeks to get back to my engine and I used both bits of advice.

I had a "click" when turning the key, so I sprayed some carb cleaner in the intake ports, let it sit for awhile, and then cranked it up. Engine started right away. However, the water was not coming out of the pee hole after idling for 60 seconds or so.

When I posted the first time, I had water coming out but it wouldn't start. Now it starts but no water! The muffs were positioned correctly. Did my impeller tank?

I'm not sure but I don't see how the engine would have a pee stream on the muffs without the engine running. When the impeller is stationary it usually blocks the tube that goes up to the powerhead. At any rate make sure you got the muffs on correctly (some of them tend to leak a lot). On my Suzuki DT85 with a new waterpump, I have to clamp the muffs with my hand at startup to get a good seal. After its starts peeing I can remove my hands.

Also, check for the obvious and see if your pee hole is clogged.
