Suzuki Dt 85 - what year is my engine ?

hi i have a suzuki DT 85hp outboard i am having problems finding the year of my engine, the serial number is 8501 310 179 , i have contacted suzuki GB and they were unable to help, they said the engine is not a uk distributed engine and i would have to find the county of origin and contact them to see if they can help,

the engine is silver and on the hood there is blue writing saying suzuki 85 with black writing saying oil injected but i dont know if the engine had previously been re-sprayed but on the back of the engine hood there is a gold plastic fearing with suzuki on it, why i mention this is i have contacted a few marine yards and they all ask what coulor the engine is and what coulour writing, but all i get back is late 80's early 90's no specific year.
the engine is elec start, power tilt and trim and oil injected, hope to get a reply, thank you jonathan:redface:

It sounds like a 88 or 89. The engines from 88-91 are all pretty similiar as for as the engine goes.

i have had a look for you on Brownspoint.com website.They have a parts microfich and serial number cross reference.According to their info 08501300001 to 08501410435 would make it 1983-84 it is only the very early engines that don't start with a 0.Take a look at the web page,hope this helps.
