Re: suzuki dt 75 gears

Hi also have a dt75 and have a similar problem.
In fact i have moved from wont go to at least will go forward.
First to check is the mecanism that moves the shift lever is moving correctly.
to get reverse the lever should be pushed so far backwards it nearly touches the fuel pump. If you have this correct I think the answer lies inside the lower unit. i was talking to a great Suzuki mechanic (Seasport in Perth West Australia) He tells me that forward is never a problem because the sping will always engages forward gear if any of the ****ing pins are bent or worn you lose reverse first. I would probably remove the lower unit and test it by manually by pushing the shift rod up and down and spinning the prop. I can feel my prop just skipping accross the clutch dogs in reverse. it is possible to get a longer shift pin but what you give to the reverse gear you take away from forward gear. Of course fwd is the most important. Hope its the shift cable etc for you
bets luck Sirlespat
