SUZUKI DT 65 Outboard Engine Harness

Hi I was Given a Suzuki DT65 Outboard and controls<br />from a freind who picked it up at a yard sale.Everything checks out ok but the ignition switch is missing and the wires where cut.What I<br />need to find out is What color does what.Here Are <br />the colors of the wires:<br />1.Green<br />2.Yellow<br />3.Brown<br />4.Red<br />5.Black<br />6.White<br />7.Dark Blue<br />These are the colors that are cut in the control box for the ignition switch.Please HELP it Would <br />be a life saver.THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.

Hi,<br />If You post what year Your Suzuki DT65 was made it is easier to give advice. It is determined by the serialnumber (is on a metal plate on the outboard).<br /><br />Also, If You buy a Seloc or Clymer outboard manual that cover the year of Your Suzuki You will get a wiring diagram and that way get the solution. I have these manuals and they cover 1985 to 1999 Suzuki models (Clymer 1985-1991 and Seloc 1988-1999).<br /><br />I can see these wiring diagrams:<br />C = CDI ignition system<br />T= Trim & Tilt (electric)<br /><br />Seloc:<br />1988 DT65 C (Australia)<br />1988 DT65 TC (Australia)<br />1988 DT65 C<br />1988 DT65 TC<br />1989 DT65<br />1990-1991 DT65<br />1992 DT65<br /><br />Clymer:<br />1985 DT65 C<br />1985 DT65 TC<br />1986 DT65 C<br />1986 DT65 TC<br />1987-1988 DT65 C<br />1987-1988 DT65 TC<br />1989 DT65 C<br />1989 DT65 TC<br />1990-1991 DT65 C<br />1990-1991 DT65 TC<br /><br />Clymer has the best wiring diagrams (Seloc diagrams are not good scanned and You may be unable to read all info in the wiring diagrams in that manual).<br /><br />/Bo

<br /><br />Probably a 1992 (can't be a 2002 since it was not made anymore that late, I think 1999 or so was last year it was made).<br />Could be a 1982 but I belive DT65 was not made that early. <br />By the way, I had a Suzuki DT65 TC (1991) myself before (I have Yamaha F115, 2003 now). The Suzuki DT65 is a fine outboard but do not forget to install a new impeller now, new sparkplugs (with correct gap), new oil in gearcase and make sure filters and houses are clean and not faulty. New gasket also on lower gearcase plug when you change oil. The oil injection system worked fine on my outboard and I used biodegradeable 2-stroke oil (like Castrol biolube 100) - worked fine, but any TC-W3 rated 2-stroke oil should work. And make sure the prop is in good shape and balanced - it really makes a diffrence so you get as low vibrations as possible.<br /><br />Hope it helps.<br /><br />/Bo

THANKS BO I FOUND OUT WHAT YEAR THIS SUZUKI IS<br />AT http://www.brownspoint.biz/fiche/dt65.asp site.<br />But it still didn't tell me what the color codes <br />for the ignition switch.What i'm trying to do is<br />bypass it for now to see if the thing runs before<br />I decide to keep it.The year of the outboard is a<br />1982.please can you tell me what the colors are what???Or how I can wire it to where it will start<br />much appreciated.
