Suzuki DT 55 Tach

Does anyone have the wiring instructions for changing an older model Suzuki tach from 12 pole to 6 pole so I can make it work with my 1985/6 DT 55 engine.<br />I have tried removing the strap and connecting to the centre lug, and placing the strap between the 4 and centre lug, but still get erroneous readings, unless my engine really winds up to 7000 RPM,s, but i don't think so. When I got it it was set for a 12 pole engine and read about 2600 RPM,s at full throttle so the guage is working OK.<br /><br />My book doesn't give wiring for accessories. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
