Greetings Everyone,

I have a 1984 Suzuki DT-50 that has run great ever since I bought it a year ago. Now, I had trouble starting it one outing. When turning the key it would try to start, but would never start.
I took it to the shop and they finally found out that the CDI unit went bad. They replaced the CDI unit. I took it out on the water and it started right up. I stopped the boat a couple time to fish and on the third try it would not start again. to make a very long story short it has done it three times and the CDI unit replaced three times, so far. Can anyone give me any reasons what could be causing the CDI unit to keep failing?

Any suggestion would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Re: Suzuki DT-50 CDI Unit

Bad ground is one possibility. Adding some extra grounds doesn't hurt. Stator overcharging is another. CDI's are expensive. If it was me I'd replace the Batt and check stator and Rectifier before running another.
