Suzuki DT 30 year 1986

Should the water from the tell tale take about a minute before water starts coming out? Once it starts to flow, it comes out with more pressure when the engine revs up. I was told that it has a thermostat and it needs a short time to open up, or should the water come out as soon as I start the motor? Any ideas? Thanks

stat should not have anything to do with tell tail water flow, but do need to be pulled and tested or replaced every few years to make sure they function properly and are not corroded too bad.
Motor has to fill up with water before tell tail will pressure up good
When was the last time you changed the water pump?

When was the last time you changed the water pump?

Water pump was last changed about 4 years ago and boat has been used about 10 times since then. Would you recommend replacing the water pump and checking the stat?

yes I would
Impeller will get old just sitting
tell tail should get going way before 1min

OK, will take your advice and replace water pump and components and check condition of stat. Thanks for you help!
