I have a suzuki dt 30 that i ran for the first time in a year. before running i had a cooling system problem that i resolved with the help of OB and BushCat. went fishing ran fine all day, on the way back in felt like i lost 1 cylinder, was still about 3 mile out. stopped the boat tried to idle engine would die, started up again reved the engine seem to clear ran ok a little while longer. then miss came back i forced the engine to run at a higher rpm to try and get as close to the pier as possible, then just before docking the engine ran great again, even while i washed the boat, the engine ran fine, i think it might have been carbon that fell into the spark plug and bridged the gap. i don't know what to think now that its running fine. whats the best way to decarbon a cylinder any easy ways. thanks kavin
how do you specify what your looking for on the login.
i almost always emty the carbs after every trip so there shouldn't have been that much gas to gum up i hope that's why i was kind of relieved that the problem cleared but at the same time was sad because now i really don't know what was causing the problem. i'm hoping that it was a carbon problem. but you could be right that its the carbs to i've had that problem before too. and it was hard to sinc. the three back even again. thanks hoping it's carbon but i'll be wearry of the carbs too. thanks again djohns19 and Fridays Marines. kavin

just went back on and figured out how to navigate thanks again kavin

If the engine hasn't been run for a year do yourself a favor and clean out your carbs. The gas tends to varnish up hard. You put fresh fuel in it and it runs fine first weekend (although it sounds like you might have had a little trash). It then sits for a week and the fresh gas dissolves the varnish into molasses which is sucked into the jets when you try to start it a week or two later. The comment is " it ran fine last weekend after sitting all winter and it won't hardly start now"..I've heard it 100 times..clean your carbs, save your motor. The 30 hp has three small carbs with real small jets and is very sensitive to any trash in the carbs. De-carbonizing your pistons won't cure your problem.
