Suzuki DF50 reverse shifting

New Suzuki DF50. When the shift lever is pulled from neutral to reverse, before it gets "into" reverse, there's a clicking sound from the engine. It doesn't quit til fully in reverse. Don't know if it's gears not meshing or maybe just normal. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Howdy, Buck.<br /><br />Your engine uses a "dog" clutch, which is either in or out.<br /><br />You are shifting it too slowly and allowing the "dog" to bounce off the hub.<br /><br />Shift it more positively.<br /><br />Good luck.
