Just dewinterised my DF140 and started my engine and idle is high at 200orpm and won't settle - no work done but did put in fuel stabilizer in tank. Spoke to mechanic and thinks this would not be the problem, reckons a sensor - any ideas -was running great at end of last season!

Throttle cable or linkage problem.

i would disconnect the throttle cables
if that did not work u need to adjust your IAC valve

There is no way an out of adjustment IAC valve would cause the engine to idle at 2000 RPM.

Re: Suzuki DF140 fast idle (2003 model)

Good question, I am working on a suzuki 1999 40hp four stroke fuel inj. for a customer. Just replaced the hi press. fuel pump, regulator, etc. Now the engine runs but idles at 3000 rpm. Didn't mess with any adjustments yet. Think i need to buy the software to check it out. It is an evinrude skin. Fuel pump was rusted up and locked up from water in vs tank. Now it is hard to start and spits back through intake because something is telling it to idle at 3000rpm. any thoughts?
Thanks, John

if the IAC is at 100% and stuck it can idle about 2000,also check all linkages for binding, then its off to the laptop.
on the other high jack check your injectors for leakage and stuck injectors, spitback is 99% fuel however its possible a valve is stuck open due to water.
