Suzuki DF115 VST Removal??

Hi everyone,

I have a 2004 DF115 that has endured lots of water in the fuel. We have cleaned the fuel system (minus the vst) many many times to finally realize that we were just getting more and more water in the tank from a faulty fuel overflow on my bay boat. I have been cleaning the fuel rails, soaking the injectors in seafoam, replacing HP filter, LP filter and seperator filter. This would make it run great for a short period of time, but then it would start bogging all over again. This is no longer working and I'm convinced from reading this forum that my vst needs cleaning. Can I get this thing out without removing the intake manifold???? And if I do have to remove the manifold; what should I be aware of??? Are there any gaskets that must be replaced etc.....

Thank you in advance for the help!!

yes the intake has to come off, there is a gasket there, the vst is bolted to it from the back, you will also need the oring on the vst, there is a pressure reg. in the vst that does not like water, soak it good.

Ok, I was afraid of that..

Let me clarify... The manifold gasket and the vst o-ring will need to be replaced before re-installing???

I plan on beginning this afternoon, and I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks

make sure that there is no rust on the high presure pump.
if yoy see any rust i would replace it the high presure fuel pump rusts pretty quick if water sits in the vst for a few days.

its a matter of time then till the pump fails and then you wil have to do it again.

see rust replace it thats my advise on the pump.

i would also change the needle and seat in the vst.
sometimes the screw that holds the pump in is a bit..
a good snapon screwdriver is a must.

dont strip it.

good luck

Ok I've removed the VST! I was actually able to get the bolts out and pull the VST out without removing the intake manifold!! We'll see if I can get the bolts ligned up and back in :):) I found lots of rust and particles in the bottom of the tank, and all over the fuel regulator. The screen filter was also almost totally clogged with particles!

I'll be cleaning and soaking the tank and will reinstall everthing thursday.

Thank you

Re: Suzuki DF115 VST Removal??

Ok 2 quick questions??????

1) I've unscrewed the fuel regulator but it doesn't want to come out. Do i just need to pull/pry harder or what? Should I just soak it without removing? (it's pretty dirty)

2) The float pin- do I just knock it out? I noticed one side looked round and the other flat. I'm thinking i just need to tap on the round end???

thanks
