Bundy,

The Suzy's like to turn fast, but don't twist it any higher. You say this is with a full load. I'm concerned about what it does with a light load. You're at the max. rpm fully loaded.

You might want to increase 2" in pitch if you FREQUENTLY go with a light load. The key is to find a happy medium with the TOP rpm around 5800.

Thanks djohns! How much does changing the prop to the next step up change RPM. It's a Suzuki stainless.

Hi, Bundy.

I agree with DJohns. You are underpropped.

If you are now running a 16", go to an 18", Pt. #99105-00100-18P, your WOT with full load should drop to about 5600-5700. If you are now running an 18", go to the 20", Pt. #99105-00101-20P. Results should be as above.

You will need to monitor your light load WOT rpm and keep it at or below 5800rpm.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Bundy:
What pitch prop are you running now? I've got the same engine and run aprox. 5900 unloaded WOT with a 17 pitch aluminum. I thought of getting an 18 pitch. I've got an alumacraft classic 16.

Current prop is an 18 SS on a Duracraft 1660,16.5ft. Gonna try a 20

Re: Suzuki DF 70 WOT RPM

I picked up a 13 1/4 x 20 SS prop yesterday. The new prop is vented with holes around the hub. What effect does this have? Will try it out when the weather permits.
