My 2001 DF70 broke down last week. Dealer says no oil pressure and new power head needed due to siezure. On vacation and no boat. I hope Suzuki comes through in a timely fashion.Engine had only about 60 hours on it and ran fine until breakdown.

Hi, Bundy.

Sorry to hear about your trouble.

My DF70 is also a 2001 and has given me no problems.

Let us know what sort of support you get from Suzi.

Good luck. :)

Re: suzuki DF 70 problems

Bundy,
Sounds like your oil pump failed. Had the same problem on my 2001 DF70. The oil pump is run off the camshaft and that was the cause of failure on mine. I had 68.7 hours when it failed. They wouldn't replace my power head, but replaced the camshaft. I now have over 300 hours and it runs great. Good Luck dealing with Suzuki. Took 3 months to get my back in the water. Ron

Re: suzuki DF 70 problems

No symptoms prior to breakdown. Oil light came on and warning sounded. I ran it at about 1200 rpm for about 25 min. after checking the oil.The warning light and sound stayed off at low speed (1200 rpm) only. It siezed and wouldn't run after that. I used my trolling motor to get back. Dealer says the Suzuki rep will be in to check it out Oct.3.He says getting a new powerhead should not be a problem.
