I have a 2013 Suzuki 2.5 for a small sailboat. Can't tilt the engine up due to the plastic bracket stopper ( the preventer that does not allow you to tilt motor unless it is facing aft ) The motor bracket mounted to the boat is low so when engine is turned off and I want to tilt her, the powerhead hits the deck of the little day sailor before the tilt can be locked into place.
However, I read somewhere that its possible to remove the plastic bracket stopper so I can swivel the engine to the side, allowing enough room for the tilt to lock.
I could build a higher board for the engine mount, but this presents other issues when sailing ( the main sheet can get caught on this when you don't want it too - always happens in a critical time ! ). Besides, that would be too easy !
Does the engine bracket have to come off to remove this ? If so, one or both sides ?
Thx
