Hey guys,
I have a Suzuki DF 115 that has been sitting in Nicaragua for 3 months, full of motor oil and lower unit oil without being run. I fired it up today and it idled high at around 2000 rpms, it didn't **** very well but was pissing, seemed a little warm, after about 1 minute i got a single beep alarm from the control box with no lights on the tachometer, no oil light, no overheating light. the temp has stayed in the 80's since i left, no freezing here in the tropics. The motor has 540 hours on it. My problem is i forgot my service manual and cant for the life of me remember what a single beep alarm means. It is also strange to me that there are no indicator lights just the single beep about every 5 seconds. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

if i remember that 1 beep every 5 seconds could be a code 1.......1.......1.......1......1
that is a overcharge condition meaning that your stator cant get rid of the amps and creates voltages spikes and the computer is a very voltage sensitive piece it sets off this code and might do other wacky things.

first thing to check is the condition of your battery and all conections.
lot of codes are being set off just by bad batterys or broken, loose, dirty , rusty conections.

good luck

Re: suzuki df 115 high idle rpm single beep alarm

OK that makes sense, I actually have two of these motors and the other one gave me conflicting code last year. One code on the lamp and a different buzzer code...turned out to be corrosion in the wiring harness. I know my battery is good because i used the battery from my other motor which is running fine. What confuses me is the absence of a check engine light and it idleing at 2000 rpms. If there is a voltage issue then this could mess with the EFI I imagine and explain the idle speed. I will inspect the electrical...i hate electrical. Thanks!
anymore advice is still very welcome

i defenatly would check those things out first before chasing a ghost.

i see a lot of codes being caused by battery related problems.

i had a DF250 running on 3 cylinders because of a bad battery.
also code 1....1....1....1

replaced the bad battery cleaned all conections and it run like a champ.
i dont use wing nuts on my baterys .
they tend to come loose.
Those ecm's dont like that.

if your batterys check out fine and your conectors are al tight and in good shape i would check the iac valve.
Idle air control valve.
might be sticking.

Try resetting the oil-change alarm. Remove the safety lanyard, turn the ignition switch to ON, pull the kill button out 3 times within 7 seconds. Put the lanyard back on and start it. That may resolve the problem.
