Thank you in advance for your input.
I recently purchased deck boat with a 2002 DF140 with 330 hours on it. I had the engine checked out by a Suzuki dealer and was advised that all was well. However the compression check was as follows, Cylinders 1,2 &4 were at 170 psi. Cylinder # 3 was at 155psi. The tech advised that it was within 10% so it was OK. I was caught up in the excitment of buying a new boat and had drivin two hours to look at the boat. The sea trial went well and so I purchased the boat. So far it hasn't given me any trouble.
Now that the excitment has worn off a little, I and concerned about the #3 cylinder difference from the others. Am I beining over concerned, or should I check out somthing else that may have caused this? Could a valve have build up? I have pulled the plugs and all looked the same and in good condition. Any in put is appreciated.
Thx

Re: Suzuki Compression Concern

Do a leak down test, it will tell you where it is leaking out of the cylinder. Intake, exhaust, crankcase

Redo the compression test and you may find it changed for the better.
It tend to vary some with use.

Maybe run the test 3 or 4 times and take the average of each cylinder, then compare the readings...may just be difference in the test?

Re: Suzuki Compression Concern

Thanks for all the advice. I will be renting a leakdown tester this weekend. But before that, I will be doing my own compression test as advised. My next question is regarding the ignition system. Can I just pull the emergency stop switch cord to disable the ignition during the compression test? I don't want to damage the coil packs.

Thank you.
