I've got an older model Suzuki in pieces. I believe it is a DT40 I need to figure out what year the motor is. Any clues as to where to find the year? Does the serial number give that info in some cryptic way? How? In anybody's opinion would a late eighties early nineties be worth putting money into?

LOOK AT THE SERIAL # IT SHOULD LOOK SOMETHING LIKE THIS 456815-986321 THE FIRST #IN THE LAST SET OF DIGITS IS THE YEAR MODEL THE SERIAL # I TYPED WOULD BE EITHER A 1989 OR A 1999 YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO LOOK AT THE MOTOR AND TELL THE DIFFERENCE A MOTOR THAT IS A FEW YEARS OLD OR ONE THAT IS TEN PLUS YEARS OLD

First digit is the last digit in mfg year, the rest is engine number.

Does this make sense Spoons?

/Bear
