Hello, THis is a first time post.

I just puchased a skiff with a DT15 1989 motor.

The motor started fine and ran well at low speeds, the first time I ran the engine full speed under load "other that a test tank" it ran great for about 1 minuit then died. I have not been able to start since. The plugs are getting spark and the fuel line is flowing all the way to the pump. The only thing I have not been able to check is the compression. Any ideas? Oh the motor spins freely and even pumps water while cranking with the electric start.

Thanks in advance,

Cheers,
Sven

Squirt some premix in the carb throat and see if you can fire it up. If it goes, try pumping the fuel bulb and see if that helps. If so, you may have a bad fuel pump. If not stick with the basics, verify that you have a strong spark at the plug and if so your carb may need attention.

Tried the premix in the carb with no luck---commpression seems to be fine and I am getting spark at the plugs-- is it possible for the carb to go out of wack suddenly???

Cheers,
Sven

If you have compression and a good spark at the plugs at the right time and you squirt some premix into the carb it will usually fire up temporarily, unless there's too much fuel in there already.

Had a similar problem with my 1882. Pulled off the carbs, cleaned all openings, and pulled jets and cleaned. Found all had crap in the jets. You mush remove the bowls to get to the jets and clean. That got mine started, but since other problems have developed.
javascript:void(0)
Eek!
