Suzuki 50HP not putting out!!!!

Hi Folks,<br />I am very new to Outboards and have a quick question I hope you can help with. I have a Suzuki 50HP outboard. Twin Cylinder / Twin Carbs. The problem I am having is that the engine only reaches 2500rpm when in gear and does not want to go any further. When it is in neutral it idles fine and reves out fine. I have alrady checked the timing but that is fine. Any help or sugestions would be greatly appreciated<br />Cheers,<br />Derek.

Hello, Derek.<br /><br />Welcome to the board.<br /><br />Ignore the wisecracks. Cindytim is new here and hasn't learned that this is a serious board with not much patience with that sort of thing. . . yet.<br /><br />You don't mention your boat or prop. Both are important. Also, you don't give us any history. That is also important.<br /><br />Post again. Tell us what boat you have your Suzi on, what pitch prop you are running, and if the engine ever performad properly for you. I found that when my old suzuki dt 50 did that it was the foam under the cover was disintegrating and had gotten microscopic bits in the carbs. I removed the foam hood liner and cleaned the carbs. <br /><br /> http://www.dgweb.com/~bobaloo/Carbclean/CarbClean.htm

It sounds like only 1 cylinder going. Check spark then compression then fuel.

HI Folks,<br />Thanks for the replies. I think I may have the problem sorted.Well At least I hope I do!!!!<br />It looks as though one of the coils was cracked and was not earthing properly. I think it may have been earthing before it reached the plug. I've sealed the crack. So fingers crossed thats it. I will be testing this weekend so I'll let you know how it goes!!! <br /><br />Be Good!!<br />Derek.
