Suzuki 40hp where to connect tachometer

I have a 1987 Suzuki DT 40hp, I would like to add a tach to motor, but I can't find out which wire color I have to use.<br />I believe I can connect from remote control.<br /><br />Anybody knows which of the wires I have to use ?<br /><br />Thanks.

Yellow is tach sender, grey is ignition (+) and black is ground (-).

What??? Every boat Iv ever worked on the tach is the grey wire. Yellow is charging wire to the regulator/recticfier (AC)<br /><br />Take a look at the boating standard wire code.<br /><br /> Wire Code

Trent,<br /><br />Hooty and Lakensea actually are correct, I went to Teleflex tech site and they list correct colors on their page (my fault I should have looked it better). I will try it today, and let you know if they don't follow code.<br /><br />Thanks.

Trent,<br /><br /> I'll bet you've only worked on Mercs, Johnsons & Evinrudes. Japanese outboards use different color codes.

It is confirmed, yellow wire is Send to tach.<br />I actually found a connector already on harness just out of remote control.<br /><br />Again, thanks guys.
