Suzuki 25 parts

I just bought a 25 Suzuki and it was damaged by UPS in transit and I need a good place to get some parts. I'm not sure of the year model but I think it is an 85. Is there an ID or serial # on these motors anywhere? Recoil starter, ignition coil, motor hood, air filter, and choke connector are the parts I need.

I have a parts motor. Need to know what numbers are on your transom mount.

Re: Suzuki 25 parts

The shipper has filed a damage complaint with UPS and we are waiting for them to come inspect it now. I would like to think that they will pay something for it. The previous owner decided to paint the motor so it is all blue. I have been looking but and can't find any numbers on this motor at all. Is the number stamped into the metal or just tagged? And is that the only way to tell. James R if you have a parts motor I might need quite a bit from you I just would like to wait and see what they are gonna do first. Do you have those listed parts plus a prop; and if so, any idea what you might want for them? Thanks for the help gentlemen.

no tag may mean a hot ( stolen) motor that you just purchased, hope not

I do have a prop and most likely all the parts you need. We need to identify what you have before I get into all the parts.
If you look at the starboard side vertical face of the transom mount there should be a plate about 28mmx68mm. These are held on by drive screws and are difficult to remove unintentionally. I know of no other identifying marks. Has the power head been painted over or is it its original color. Scrape a little paint and see whats underneath. The color may help with approximating the year.
99yam40 may be right.

Re: Suzuki 25 parts

The inside of the motor is original paint (grey). Just the outside is painted blue and the cover is painted grey like he was trying to clean it up. I don't think this motor is stolen because only a damn fool would then try to sale it on the internet. I bought it as a parts motor but it doesn't need much to be a runner. I think that a thief would have gone for a better motor than this but in todays age who knows. There is no plate on the transom mount at all. I might try to get it over to a suzuki shop and let someone look at it. I'll let you know.

Ok David. The parts motor I have is also charcoal grey. Places the motor around 1990.
Take a quick look on brownspoint.com and see if you can identify parts that look like yours. You can research by part numbers which years were the same
The engine cover I have is in good shape but some clown painted it crappy green.
The correct paint is available from Color rite.

Re: Suzuki 25 parts

I can't believe this but this motor is definitely a 15hp. Based on the look of the parts on browns. The carb., the water intake, the cover, etc are signs. I just emailed the guy to get my money back because I am some kinda pissed. I hope he is cooperative because I'm not sure if eBay will do anything for me. I'm sorry guys for thewaste of time but I have learned alot more since buying it. I did crank it and it seems to run good but he can take it and trash it now for all I care.

Re: Suzuki 25 parts

And you wondered if some one would be stupid enough to try to sell a hot motor.
Heck according to you he sold a motor that was not what he said it was and you cannot prove it is not stolen without the serial # ID. to do a search.
He has his money in hand , hope you can work something out

So sorry to hear of your problem but I am pleased that brownspoint was of help.
I don't know if parts from a DT20 will work for you if you get stuck but I have parts for this also.
Good luck.
