I'm trying to drop the bottom end of my unit to check a water pump pipe problem, but I can't seem to get it off. I've removed the 4 bolts on each side and the one front bolt, props off so is the trim tab, gear clutch is disengaged. I've tried wailing on it with a rubber mallet, no go. Am I missing any bolts. Also, about the gear clutch, I disengaged it from the top where it engages the remote linkage and not just above the gear case like it says in the repair manual (Claymer). Manual describes the rod conection behind some removable cover just above the gear case. I don't have that , my gear rod channels through the tilt and trim plate totally hidden inside. Manual describes the disengagement procedure for the DT65 as being at the top, at the bottom of the power head as mine seems to be. Anyways just put this info in just in case I disconnected mine wrong and it is the gear rod thats holding it. (but I doubt so tight). Thanks for any help, sorry for the lengthly wine.

That,s exactly what I had to do, remove the rubber plug, loosen the nut and push the linkage in. but my problem of trying to remove the lower unit remains. I'm wondering that since the manual got mixed up in the pushrod disconnect they also forgot to list a bolt that I'm supposed to remove.

on mine there is a bolt under the cavitation plate just in frnt of the trim tab
on mine you don't have to remove the trim tab
you remove the bolt undrneath & in front of the
trim tab it is recessed so look close
3 bolts & one nut on each side but not the bolt
in front facing down it is to seperate the berring
housing which comes off with the gear box

hope this helps
