Suzuki 140hp on a 21' boat?

OK, may just be me but this seems way under powered. My Dad just bought this boat for me and I'm worried about the engine. His buddy(previous owner) and my Dad both say it pushes the boat no problem and even pulls skiers but I'm still not convinced. They said it tops out at 35mph. What do you guys think? <br /><br />The boat is a 1985 Chris Craft 212 Scorpion with a listed net weight of 2,185. The motor is a 1989 Suzuki 140hp, don't have exact model #. I should also mention that I will have to pay for the boat if I decide to take it.

Just thought of something else. The boat has a 60 gallon fuel tank so when full that would be a sh*t load of extra weight.

hey - I have that exact same boat and i have a 150Hp on it, and its screams. But then again I use mine mostly in the salt and i top out @ 44. Trust me on the boat, she handles great!

I have a Wellcraft V-20 cuddy that is a much heavier boat with a 150hp and It is as fast as I need for salt water (around 45mph). Sounds okay to me.<br /><br />M-

Nothin on the boat has any problems as far as i am concerned. It handles better in rough water than my buddies Sea Sport. I love it, its my third boat and i don't plan on getting another anytime soon!

Just a thought but maybe you should take the boat and try it before you buy it.then you wil know for sure.
