I have a 1997 Suzuki 115hp with the I4 powerhead that is carburated and want to know if this can be rebuilt or modified to be a 140hp engine. I found that the same bore and stroke are used for the suzuki 140hp with the same powerhead. If this is possible what has to done to get the extra 25 hp. Thanks for any help.

Ben

Hi, Ben.

Theoretically it can be done, but it would be cheaper to just buy a 140.

Good luck. :)

JB's correct as usual. I could be wrong, but your current motor being a 1997 model, I wouldn't think you would be out too much to trade it in on a 140.

I also have a Suzuki 115 and had considered this. Found that the 140 takes larger carbs and a differently tuned exhaust. Like stated above, it would cost more than it would for you to upgrade to a 140. I am currently thinking of trying Boyesen Reeds to add a little. Tried a SS prop but actually lost top end with the same pitch as my aluminum. Nice to hear about other Suzuki owners, seem far and few between. Good motors though!

Re: Suzuki 115hp ?

Thanks for the replys back. I got the engine for $700 and it needs to be rebuilt. Some how it got water in the bottom cylinder which cuased some problems. All is repairable and I'm in the process of rebuilding now. So if it's just new carbs and new exuast that is not that much when compared to buying a new engine. Thanks again and any other ideas are welcome.

Ben
