The only foible I know of is if the engine is left in a tilted up position after salt water use. The water tends to eat out the aluminum under the powerhead and introduce water into #4 cylinder. That is not irreversible if addressed immediately by someone who can weld aluminum. If the engine has always been left tilted down after use, it's a non-problem. If it's always been in fresh water, it's a non-problem. Normal maintenance will be a crankcase oil change, oil filter change, gear oil change--yearly.You'll have to ask your tech what he charges. My charge for that service is roughly $40 for parts/fluids, $75 for labor. Depending on the waters where you boat and the amount of sand entering the cooling area, you should--if there is no sand--change the water pump impeller and thermostat every 3-4 years. If you boat in sandy areas, yearly is a good thought. The water pump job should be about $ 80 for parts, +/- $100 labor. I had a commercial customer who ran his 70 4800 hours before changing spark plugs that looked new. Another needed it done every 2 years because his engine never warmed up (didn't want to spend the $$ on a thermostat that was stuck open, keeping temps too cool, fouling plugs. The 60/70 is a great engine family. I think you'll really enjoy it.
