Re: suspended bass

I've had moderate success with a 1/4oz Rat-L-Trap, either chrome with a blue back or bream- colored. While the water is as warm as it is around here, you've got to make some noise to give them a reason to strike. Also, don't give up on a spot after the first few casts. They are sluggish right now and you've got to be very patient. Sometimes , they will strike out of anger rather than hunger when this approach is used.

Those bass musta been real bad in the school if they are suspended. Only thing worse to catch are expelled bass. <br /><br />Any time now you'll get the expert advise you need to get those bigguns,, I am waiting with baited breath to see how to get em myself.<br /><br />Tightlines Flathead.<br /><br />"Baited breath" I kill me. :D

buzzbait or soft plastic jerkbait if its clear water. Pop a jig off the bottom, then let it float down. If you are getting the smaller fish try a large worm texas rigged or a larger crankbait. Luckycraft d-20 or similar.

Re: suspended bass

thanks ive already tried most of those still little fish ill give them another try tonight, been using a 4"worm,the lake is a small one,and it is heavly pressured,a weneday nighter, thursday nighter and then club tournys all weekend, past 4 years the fish arent in there usual spots, not on ledges or humps,or deep points.seems like they justwonder around in real ddeep water following shad, buzz bait bite only lasted a little while, you cant prefish because everday the fish is some were new, thats why i think there just out suspended, there is big fish in it ,the biggest tis year 7lb largemouth and 6lb smallie.thanks for the advice will see if we catch em.

Welcome to world of Bass Fishing, just when ya think you have them figured out and have all the answers, they change the questions.<br /><br />The olny thing predictable about a Bass is its unpredictability!<br /><br />Think of all the knowledge youre gaining.<br /><br />Most of the Lakes in my area are at an average of about 15' deep, no shad, and no real suspended Bass per se.

Re: suspended bass

Ron, I haven't fished it much this year.(recovering from back surgery :( ) I do know that they've done some spraying in the Brownsferry area in the past. Plenty of lily pads in Flint Creek. Still plenty of fish, just wish I could get a crack at 'em.

Re: suspended bass

Thanks, Ron. Yep,that's the same Flint Creek. Most of the pads are back. They thrive in oxygen starved water, so they come and go according to the phosphate content in the city of Hartselle's sewage treatment plant aways upstream. That's probably why the bite was better when they were gone. Beulah Bay is always a great area.
