Surge Brakes For Small Trailers

I have a 14' Bayliner. Total weight of the the rig is about 1,000 pounds. Can I(should I) get surge brakes on that.<br /><br />Thanks

What or you towing with? Have you had it weighed? Consider trailer, gear, batteries and fuel in your weight estimate.

zonaman - To answer your question: Yes you can get surge brakes but you should not unless your tow vehicle is really teeny and has brakes to match. Most tow vehicles can handle 1000# with no trouble so trailer brakes are not worth the added hassle. JMHO.
