Surge Brake Question

Hey all,<br /> This may be a dumb question, but I need to ask. I have surge brakes on my trailer. The part on the tongue is confusing me. It has the 2 big bolts that hold the hitch to the tongue of the trailer, and it has another big bolt that holds the part that slides(where the ball connects). Is the bolt that holds the slider part suppost to be tight or a little loose. It also has a small shock under the tongue that connects to this bolt. I know tis is a dumb question, but I want to make sure I get this right.. Thanks

Re: Surge Brake Question

I think what you are referring to as a shock is the piston that pumps brake fluid to the wheels. Your master cylinder if you will.

Re: Surge Brake Question

The 'shock' is just that, a damper; it's not the master cylinder :) . As tommays says, the damper helps smooth out the stop and go action. The master cylinder is an entirely different component.
