Hello everyone...just thought I would drop by and say hello. As most of you know the old 73 SS found a new home in Northern NM. The sequence of events that followed was me driving 600 miles to Dallas to get my next boat. I took new tires along for the ride, had them mounted in Texas followed by an uneventful 600 mile tow back home.

This boat came from a good friends uncle who no longer used it, after 12 years of ownership, as his kids we grown up and gone. So I picked up this thing for $4500. I replaced the ignition switch, stereo and speakers, and wheel bearings and seals on the trailer. I do miss the SS already and would probably still have it if modern outboard power was not so cost prohibitive. But I think this boat and 4.3GL Volvo will serve our purpose a little better for now.

I know this is not the place for a Caravelle, but just had to show you guys the new rig. I miss the sense of community and the encouragement I recieved from this board. I will still be here on iboats...mostly lurking for now...until the tin fever strikes again.

You all take care and I will still be following your projects!

Wow bunker, that is an awefullly good looking donor boat bunker! But cutting it up and swapping the parts over to a real boat is what's right I spose, eh!

Kidden man, just kidden!

Sheesh buddy, that boat looks absolutely brand spankin new! At $4500 I'd say you scored a screamin good deal!

Have fun with her, I'm sure you will:)

This is not the behavior we have come to expect from the tin crowd...

A floating, essentially water-ready glasser AND you like it, plan to use it, and plan to take diligent care of it.

W/ no mention of a sawzall, the dump, or use of the word DONOR...... Eeerrrrpp! What, wait, what????

 Carp, my world view has been skewed  Let me grab a fresh cup of coffee, get a swift kick in the arse & see if my brain won't re-boot..... I'll be back......

;):p

Really a nice looking boat boat, hope she serves you faithfully for a long time... Enjoy!

You know, that just struck me JB...

We constantly see glasser guys converting to metal, and welcome them with open arms.

But, uh...

What do we do with a metal boat guy who converts to a glasser guy???

Well, besides beat em up real bad and burn his boat obviously;):D

So rare I'm totally confused here.

We do what ANY good friend and starmada comrad would do; we steatlhfully drive over to his place late in the night, drop off a $200 - $650 tin baby (include left over gluvit, 5200, and any other misc parts from our rebuilds because we care) that needs a transom, motor, flooring, paint, trailer repair, and about 165 or so posts to get 'er fixed up.

We then hookup the g.l.a.s.s.e.r rig, pull the I/O (send it to EZ for storage), and proceed to back it right off the nearest mountain side or in to a local dump and take pictures for heckling purposes. We save the trailer and anything else shiny in the sunlight on it and wait for the restoration thread to demand pics. That's what anyone would expect from buds, right?

Nice looking boat and a great deal.
Sorry to hear you had to give up the SS. I know you'll miss her.

Don't just lurk. With your experience and knowledge, you still have much to contribute to this family.

Good luck with the new boat. Keep your stringers dry!

The real shame here is if that SS had had a nice reliable OMC on the back of it, our dear friend bunker would still be in the fold :D

In all seriousness, that's a screaming deal for that boat in that condition with that motor. SCREAMING deal. Congrats and I'm sure it will serve you well.

Bunk - Not a bad looking "you know" and a good deal to boot. No bad floors, transom, paint, trailer or motor. You're gonna get bored just boating with the family and not working on the boat. ;) Stick around for :Dwhen you get your next tinny.
