I have to admit, I am fish species illiterate when it comes to salt water fish. I couldn't tell you one from another. But I do like to see them. I just never fished for any. I am fresh water only fisherman and not every fresh water species at that either. Mostly Georgia state only. But that fish looks like a pretty good size. JMHO!

Not sure they are regulated in any way.

From the looks of them, they look like they would be a very strong fighting fish with those large top and bottom fins and that wide tail section. Thanks for the post of them. And I have to ask, are they eatable? If so what do they compare to?

Okay I see. Just because those countries find things eatable, doesn't give me much confidence about their taste or consumption. I've seen some of their other delicacies. :faint2:

We have lots of those guys here in SoCal. MolaMola... moon fish, I think, not sun fish. the other is an Opa, which is Yummy, silver with a red fringe.

These molamola are not considered food, but when you hook one up on a kayak it is a good sleigh ride! Lots of fun on a 2/0 size bait caster...
