I have a 2001 Stingray center console (MS200) with a 4.3 Mercruiser and alpha drive. I am looking for a way to get my trolling speed down and trying to get rid of dragging drift bags if possible. Online specs say boat weighs about 3000#. It has a fresh remaned long block.

Current prop is a Solas 1513-140-21

Also, it really struggles already to get on plane with just (3) 200# guys on board and only half tank of fuel, would a prop that would troll slower be harder or easier to quick planning?

Thanks

I'd think a shallower pitch would help both, but probably not be enough to get your trolling speed where you want it.
I vaguely remember some bolt on gimmick thing with a remote flap to flick down behind the prop to help with trolling being in existence at one time; similar to a jet drive reverser?

The lower the pitch the less speed you will go, this will also increase hole shot. The down side is it can also get you where you could over rev the motor. If your WOT is at 4800 RPM with normal load, then you don't want to drop pitch more then to 19.

If you cannot reach 4800 rpm at WOT then maybe go to a 17 pitch.

You can also trim up some to slow you down but also impacts steering a tad depending on how high its trimmed
