Re: suggested wot rpm?
Most OMC motors are suggested to run @ about 5000 by factory.
We recommend 5800.
Verify tach operation. Verify full throttle is actually being achieved. Verify all cylinders firing.
Before changing prop, repair the 1 you have now.
Spun prop will increase rpm and reduce overall speed. (Other post says you have a spun prop).
Check mounting height and lift motor on transom (x-factor) a little at a time while noting changes in operation and handling. Lifting your motor or lowering it will change your rpms.
Check acceleration, cornering, planing ability, porpoising and cavitation. Keep an eye on temp and water pressure to make sure you are not loosing coolant flow.
When you get to a comfort zone for all of this, you have achieved your sweet spot.
Now check your rpms and adjust pitch accordingly.
