Last Sunday I was out with the kids tooling around the cove in my 15' stonington skiff. Apparently the transom clamp screws weren't properly secured and while at wide open throttle, the OB left the transom for a quick trip to the bottom of our 8' deep cove, trailing the fuel line and tank. I was able to quickly row back to it and using the fuel line, pull it to the surface. Within 30 minutes I had it in my shop plugs pulled, WD-40 sprayed into all electrical areas and cylinder, freshwater muffs on and the engine started. Here in lies the problem. I am only able to keep it running with full choke on. Motor ran smooth and the the engine was warm, I push the choke in and it revs up then dies. I've disassembled the carb and found a small slotted head of the main venture tube broken and lying in the bulb. Somehow I don't think this is the problem.

A compression check as 125# in each cylinder after five pulls. Everything else looks good.

Question #1: Where can I gt agood rebuild manual for the engine

Question #2: where else should I look for problems? Reed box?

Thank in advance,

Bob

Re: Submerged Tohatsu 18

1) Any Nissan or Tohatsu dealer can provided the factory manual or iboats has an aftermarket manual available.

2) Until you fix your known carb problem you cannot go any further.
