My family and I were out on the lake when we herd a boat having trouble so we went to check it out, this guy would try to bring the boat to a plane and the nose of the boat would burry it self filling the boat with water, when we got closer we noticed his boat was still hooked to the trailer,

I'd kinda like to try launching my boat with the trailer attached to see how it goes. Wouldn't plane at all I'd imagine, and terrible handling. But you could drive it right up the ramp when retrieving :)

Just go look up the old episode of MythBusters. They did the boat on trailer scenario.

My Inlaws live on a lake, they have a boat ramp, and a little garage that faces the lake. BUT they have NO access to back a trailer to the ramp and boat shed behind the house. When he moved in, my father in law left the trailer on the boat, unhooked it from the pickup and drove the boat and trailer across the lake to his ramp. He has an electric winch in the back of the shed that he hooks to the boat and trailer to pull the whole works into the shed for the winter, or for maintenance. Several times a year we take his boat and trailer to a different lake, so he drives them both back across the lake to the public ramp to hook onto the truck. Works fine! Of course, he doesn't try to set any speed records while the trailer is under the boat!

I would LOVE to see a boat and trailer come across the lake intentionally.
That probably gets the same kind of looks as I get storing my ATV on the bow of my boat.

We have exactly the same scenario. That's not a half bad idea.:D At least one way. I'd buy and old trailer just to get it into the boathouse.

There is nothing stopping me except fear and common sense. I'll get over both.:D

Thanks.

I usually don't have a big problem with common sense. You can see that in the [in]famous thread I posted yesterday in the dockside forum

Very confused?? Are you saying that they have no place to keep the trailer so it lives in the water or something? I don't understand why they wouldn't just launch the boat and drive the trailer somewhere else until they needed it again??

<EDIT> Never mind, I thought it said they have a lift when I first read this. They have a ramp. <EDIT>

I'm too lazy to unhook/hook back up, so I always leave mine attached. Just needed to get a bigger motor and it works out fine.

Re: stupidest thing i have ever seen!

I was driving down 95 north one day and came up on a boat that looked as if it had gotten loose from the tow vehicle. As I went by it was actually a boat that someone had installed a compete front and rear axle and was driving it down the highway. I so wish I had taken a picture, but of course this was before hyped up cell phones with cameras in them.

Yeah sure just trim the motor out and im sure she'll plane out with the trailer and truck attatched. C'mon dude are you full of sh*t? I have to call bull sh*t on this. Anybody with half a brain would realize that they were still attached to something. Who tries to get on plane right off the trailer anyway? BULL CR*P!!!

Wow!...What are all these other trucks doing in the parking lot with the trailer still attached? They must be idiots!

Re: stupidest thing i have ever seen!

Old boss had a beach house, and a boat house door that only opened to the beach.

Ran his trailer across Puget Sound under the boat, put a larger front wheel assy on so it would roll in and out on the sand, wenched it in/out of the boat house to launch til he bought a new boat/trailer. Repeated the front wheel mod to the new trailer.

I don't doubt the old guy is still enjoying the Sound.

I know I will always miss Camano Is.

Exactly as I thought it would happen. I too have heard these stores and just can't for the life of me imagine how you could launch a boat and NOT realize the trailer is still attached. I just truely don't think it's possible. I mean if you're that drunk, you'd have never made it too the lake to start with.

I'm sure everyone has seen the Bill Dance blooper where the trailer is still attached to the boat. (Staged I'm sure, but funny none the less)

Re: stupidest thing i have ever seen!

Were you at Lake Norman? Maybe the guy was stealing the boat from a gated community and wanted the trailer too!! Or he was repossesing it! scenario, Its's parked near a ramp, he rolls it down it and into the water, keys in it, away he goes! accomplice waiting at another ramp:eek: Might explain him swamping it, panicked or in a hurry!:D
