Stupid question of the day, premixing fuel

Ok, heres whats probably a dumb one. As I've already posted on here my oil injection gave up the ghost and rather than pay the nearly 2k to replace the POS plastic gear with another POS plastic gear, I'm scrapping the oil injection and going to premix. My boat has a 32 gallon fuel tank. Right now it has an unknown amount of fuel in it, so I'm going to mix up a 5 gallon can with 83 ounces of oil and pour it in and then top off the tank. But what about next time? I won't know how much fuel I'm going to put in the boat until it's already done, and then if I just pour the proper amount of oil down the fill tube what about proper mixing? Won't the oil just want to sit in a slug in the bottom of the tank, thereby starving my engine of oil? Or does the oil readily mix with the fuel without any agitation? Right now I'm kind of freaking out because I already have a motor with issues, and I don't want more issues that might cost me 12-14k. As always, any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

I always poured my oil in at the gas pump, after I filled my tank with fuel.... I let the bumpy roads do the mixin. Never failed me.

But I'm about to go on a week long fishing trip and at some point I'll have to top off at the marina. So there is where my concern really is.

Dump in the 83 oz and fill the tank. The oil and gas do not separate, once it's mixed, it stays mixed.

Get one of the pre-mix bottles for the marina tank fills. They hold 32 oz. so they are good for 12,5 gallons. Add more oil at 50:1 if it takes more than 12,5 gallons to top off.

One more thing, Before firing up the motor, use the primer bulb to flush the fuel line until the raw gas turns the color of the oil. Dump the flushed gas back into the tank.

The oil will mix with the gas plenty quick enough.
Don't worry about it.

When you go to fill up at the gas station, you can get the right mix, or very close to it easily. If you know you need 12gal fuel or more, dump in a quart of oil and add 12 gal gas. If you still think you need 12 g of fuel, repeat it. If not, if you think you need 6 gal gas, dump in a pint of oil and then 6 gal gas. Repeat until you think you need about 3 gal. Dump in a 1/2 pint of oil and add 3 gal of gasoline. If you do not get all the last 3 gal of gas, the mixture will only be off a little bit across 32 gal.

Chris, that is great advice. I'll probably try to limit my top offs to 12 gallons, because gas at a marina in the middle of nowhere Canada isn't cheap, and I'd like to bring some money home with me. Thanks for all the replies!

Yep, got the alarm. Luckily when the pump stopped turning it was when I was running it on the ears winterizing it. So no damage was caused because I didn't even run it long enough to burn all the fuel out of the HP Injector tank.
