I was at the local boat ramp the other day and met perhaps the stupidest person ever to own a boat. I had pulled my boat into an overflow lot getting my fishing stuff ready when this guy and his wife pulled up to put there boat in. It looked like a new boat pulled by a new truck. They launch the boat and this guy pulls his truck into the ramp parking. There is 8 places to park and only 1 other truck there. He gets out and walks around his truck, gets back in and moves his truck over a couple spots. He gets out again and walks around his truck again. He gets back in his truck and moves it across the ramp about half way up the parking area. This blockes the ramp totally off. As he is walking down to his boat I ask him if that is where he is going to park. I was quickly informed that he had a new $50,000 truck that he didn't want scratched. I walked from my boat to the bed of my F350 4X4 and picked my chain and informed him that my chain only cost $30 and it would move his truck. He moved his truck.

There's alway one of those around to annoy everyone. Ours is a boat called War Horse who thinks the courtesy dock is his personal dock.

......then there is one guy in the marina here always asking me what I'm doing today. I have a wet suit on, fins in hand, ready to dive under a boat. Have a fishing pole in my hand and my tackle box in another. On and on.....Here's your sign.

:D:D:DQuite often, my three year old son will watch me do something, and immediately ask, "Daddy, did you do 'BLAH BLAH BLAH'?" or he'll watch me put on my boots, and, "Daddy, are those your boots?" The list basically, has no end... But hey, he's three years old.;)

He's probably just trying to be friendly, couldn't think of anything to say, like, "Hi, have a good day"....

Re: stupid person

A lot of very intelligent people, faced with a new situation, will do pretty stupid looking things with no thought to the inconvenience caused others because they don't know.

Stupid behavior does not mean stupid people. Far better to help them understand than to badmouth them.

Perks up with interest, could this be the start of the new boating season is this the new crop starting to awaken from hibernation. I may have to start heading out to the launch to get a early seat. O how I have missed the sound of aluminum and fiberglass grinding on concrete. The so loving words between husbands and wife's, children running about in sugar induced glee, the smell of coco buttered flesh frying in the sun, Its going to be a good year.

I dunno if it's poor education. You can teach a 3yr old the Golden Rule? I'd say bad manners more than likely.

Where I drop in there's an acre field to the left of the ramp to park a rig in. Yet some jokers insist on parking to the right. So that they infringe on others ability to access the pumphouse/rinsedown station. Wtf!?

I cannot imagine worrying about scratching any truck, expensive or not, trucks are ment to be used and occasionally abused. I think scratches and dents can add charactor to any truck, new or old!:D He probably only uses the bed to haul groceries, washes it almost daily, and parks it in a garage always.

Re: stupid person

OOOOOOO Does that infer that it's Ok to park it anywhere regardless of others inconvenience, until it's older and more used? How long do you wait before you can park it like any other auto? I agree w JBs post, but sometimes you can politely try, but you still can't fix stupid:D

Oh man I love those people :)

One time I went to the auto parts store for new brakes for my old K5, there were like 3 different sizes of rear break shoes, so I headed home to get one of them.

I bring it in the store and tell the clerk I need new break shoes.

He replies; "you need more than one right?"

I give him a blank stare, trying to figure out if he is serious... he is.

So tell him "Nope, I only need to stop once"

I had everyone in line behind me rolling
I finish it by telling him "here is your sign".

Thanks Bill :)

Next time your ready to go diving, or fishing, get creative!

Dive gear on, asks you what your doing today, tell him your taking some flying lessons ;)

Re: stupid person

I liked the brake shoe story. I reminds me of trying to get a water pump for a Jeep I was building. I had put a chevy 350 in a cj7 and the pulley system for the belts came with a part number for the water pump. I went down to the parts house and gave the man the part number. He ask me what it was going on and I told him I had the number of the pump I needed. He insisted on knowing what it was going on so I told him a 86 Jeep cj7 with a chevy 350. He could not find it in his computer so he could not get it for me. I had to go to another parts house to get a water pump.

Re: stupid person

when I see someone take two (or more) parking spaces to protect their car, I leave them a note: "Your car really isn't all that special, to take 2 spaces."

Sometimes I just snuggle up real close in my beat-up truck in the half-space, preferably on their driver's side.

I have seen, in novelty stores, printed notes or even fake parking tickets with all kinds of comments for people who do that sort of thing.

I have parked in 2 spaces before, but when I do, i'm also a mile from the entrance and the store is not busy. The nearest vehicle is at least 100 yards away. A couple of times, I've had some parking lot vigilante do exactly what you described. One time he managed to cost himself about $1500. (more than his vehicle was worth, ironically) He had intentionally opened his door, leaving me with a nice dent. Police were called, and it was pretty obvious his door matched the dent, since you could see my paint on the edge. Other times, I simply get in the passenger seat, put it in neutral, and roll it out.

Passive aggressive parking nazi's who think they are in charge of the parking lot are worse than the original offense.

Too funny. And true! Hey some chick from NY collected a ton of passive aggresive notes & published them in a book. Hilarious! I'll see if I can dig up the name.

Nothing worse than a self-appointed _______?
