I was at coleto creek reservoir and we were getting ready to leave. We had a boat and 3 jet skis. My wife turned to me and said, Look that boat just flipped over. The lake has about 200 yards of no wake zone. We stay on the beach in the no wake zone. I jumped on the jet ski, without a life jacket ant flew through the no wake zone to the boat. Game wardens saw me flying through the no wake zone and were coming to get me before they even saw the boat flipped. I got there and there were about 6 people in a little 15 foot boat. In trying to help get people out of the water, they flipped my jet ski. One old lady was telling me to get a bag floating on the water. Come to find out all that was in it was cigarettes. I got the jet ski righted and hauled two people in. As we got the boat and people in, they were only worried about there ice chest and cigarettes. I didnt even get a thank you from all of them. I was pissed. I would help anyone, but a simple thank you goes a long way...

Re: stupid people

How does that saying go?... Ya can't fix stupid. The bag of cigarettes and concern for a cooler would have gotten to me, too. At that point, I would have been wondering if these people really even need my help (other than to retrieve their belongings). Regardless, you did the right thing. You reacted quickly, and effectively. You helped some people out of the water in a dangerous situation. Please don't let their stupidity and apparent lack of gratitude disuade you from the same type of reaction in the future. By definition, a selfless act requires no gratitude... But, yes, it would have been nice. You did the right thing. Find comfort in that...;)

Re: stupid people

I'll give you one.....THANK YOU!

You put yourself in harms way to help others. Kudos to you and your quick response. Don't let this deter you from helping another in the future, like veritas honus said. You are a Titon. :)

Re: stupid people

Thanks for the thanks. I will never hesitate to help someone in need. These people have no respect. That boat was in horrible shape not to mention that many people on it. The game wardens were also rude, but I guess they were mad too. They were just about to load their boat when this too place.

Re: stupid people

Good job and quick reaction. Way to go, but next time please put on a vest. With people like that they wont think twice about flipping your ski trying to save there smokes and making you the 7th victim. Anyhow good to see people still willing to help others.

Re: stupid people

Would have been wrong but I'd have loved to see the look on their faces if you had grabbed the bag and ice chest and said "YA, GOT IT!!", and then went back to the beach. :)
