Hi guys,

please correct me if this is improperly posted. I have nearly finished restoring a 1952 Seabird with the ChrisCraft Junior 4. The engine runs like a top, but there has been some Tom Foolery in that a badly-fitting Delco alternator has been bodged into the boat, as well as an incorrect starter that also came in the boat that I have had rebuilt. I don't know what is the best 12v alternator to replace this one (which is too large and required previous owner to drill new mounting holes (badly). The original alternator had 5 5/8" mounting hole spacing, but which alternator? Also, there is an oil line to the stuffing box with a reservoir in the engine bay that holds about a pint of oil. Not sure about that, as I cannot find any stuffing box details for this boat.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers!

Ron

Chris Craft Owners Club or something like that is what I would be searching for on Facebook , Google . Seems to be a CCraft specific issue

Sorry , read the Chris Craft Jr 4 and thought that would have a direct relationship with that group , regardless of what hull the engine is in , good luck !

Many older chris craft engines use a belt driven generator and divorced regulator for 12 volt supply/battery charging. Same design as on old tractor

Perhaps someone "upgraded" to an alternator?
