I have a 2001 150 Johnson that has a stuck throttle plate. It is the bottom plate on the starboard side. All the other plates move freely.
Anyone have this problem.

Did that, and it still would not move.Took the carb off to get better access to it,and it won't budge.

Re: Stuck Throttle Plate

You could try moving it withe the end of a pencil or something similar.
If it seized up in the bore ? probably get a new throttle body off a donor motor.
Don't try to remove screws.

Re: Stuck Throttle Plate

Plate has a little space around it,so it's not that the plate is siezed up in the bore.Seems like the shaft the plate is on is siezed.Sprayed some WD 40 on it,anyything is worth a try.

Re: Stuck Throttle Plate

I would remove the throttle body. The shaft probley corroded. I have the manual, very poor photo of body. Warm it up with hair dryer, PBC blaster may loosen. I also don`t understand how 3 will move 1 want. What about the linkage?

I don't understand it niether. The two plates above it move freely, and even with the adjusting screw out,the bottom plate won't budge.

Re: Stuck Throttle Plate

Get some acetone and auto trans fluid, mix 50/50, and let it soak in that for a day or two. Then tap very LIGHTLY on the end of the shaft. It just may break loose.

Re: Stuck Throttle Plate

Is there a schematic that shows how the throttle plate is built.Seems like a simple mechanism, what can be jamming one plate?

Re: Stuck Throttle Plate

Corrosion around the shaft in the housing. I've seen this happen before especially in salt water areas. Maybe water injestion under the hood when running.
