Stuck seat posts

Just bought a new (to me) bass boat. The "removable" seat posts seem to be stuck. How do I get them out. I pressed the "release" on the side of the bottom of the post, and it goes all the way in like I think it should. The post still is solidly stuck in place. It does not even wiggle at all. I tried tapping on the sides of the post, but it does not move even slightly. Any ideas?

There is no evidence of corrosion on the plate or the post.

I thought about pulling the base plate off, but that could quickly develop into a major hassle in getting it back in place. This is an older (1990) Lowe with all aluminum construction, so I assume that these plates hve a nut on the back side. I am not sure that the nuts are easily accessable from the back side.

Thanks,
Terry
