I have a 73 easy loader & while doing my pre trip check, i NOTICED THAT the left rear wheel of the trailer does not spin as freely as it should....
I can't seem to get the hub off to inspect whether it is the something stuck on the brakes, or if it is the bearing....
It sounds like the shoes are rubbing....
The hub where the bearing buddy is warm to the touch, not like the other ones which arer cool.....
I cant get the hub off to inspect....:(
It is a drum type system with surge brakes...
It would be fine if I only used it for the 2-3 miles to the local ramp, but I am supposed to go to the iboats get together which is 200+ miles away....
Any help would be appreciated....
I'm heading out to dinner, so I won't post back for an hour or two....
HELP!.....

What if the adjuster wheel won't move?
Should you be able to move it both ways?......

Hey Ho Medo,..... I Think you've Found the Problem,...........

It Sounds like your Brake Hardware is Frozen.........

Ayuh,.....
You Should be able to adjust the Brakes Up,........
Or,.....
Back them Off to remove the Hub......

if its like the adjusters on the cars of the same vintage you will only be able to move the adjuster to tighten unless you can push the auto adjusting rod out away from the adjusting wheel.

Trailer brakes don't have automatic adjusters.

If the brake hardware is rusted enough that you can't loosen up the adjustment, you sometimes have to get a big pry bar in and pry the drum off.

I guess because we are saltwater BUT i have found drums that are not off on a regular basis build up a HUGE ridge on the outer lip of the drum were the shoes do not rub

Generaly i have had to use brute force as the adjuster is also NOT moveing anymore
