I just found out I'll be in the Stuart, FL area for most of September, I've never fished in that area before. What should I expect? What's there to catch? I'll have a lot of free time on my hands and want to make the most of it. I already looked into the fishing license requirements, so that's taken care of. Are there any boat rentals or areas worth trying?

i live in the area. i am not sure of any rentals but you can catch snook, tarpon, red fish, sheep's head, trout, snaper and lots more from land and bridges. snook season opens on the 1st and the inlets and bridges should hold lots of keepers(28-32") but you must have the $2 snook stamp. good luck and have fun.

If you can catch the mullet run ( you'll be a little early) you can get have a fantastic experience. Hell's Gate was a favorite of mine and if conditions permit the mouth of the inlet is fantastic for large snook and tarpon. Not quite as fishable but at the corner of Jupiter Island and intercoastal brings a number of hits. Don't waste you time on anything but the first few hour of the falling tide in conjunction with the mullet pouring out of the bays to the inlet. Oh by the way, the bait of choice is live mullet but I bet ya'll figured that out already.
