Stripers/Blues South of Boston?

I live on the South Shore. I fished last year on the Powder Point bridge in Duxbury and on the North River...NOTHING!!! I really want to catch some fish this year. <br /><br />Are the stripers here yet? Can someone suggest where to go, when and what to use for stripers and blues? (I have a boat)<br /><br />Thanks

For now,go catch some haddock and cod in Boston harbor near Buoy #2.In a week or 3 trailer your rig to Pam harbor on the cape and go to Sunken Meadow or Billings gate,there should be some biggies there by that time.Great flyfishing in Sunken Meadow with kayacks and from the shore.<br />In June go to Gloucester.

boat grunt, stripers most stripers arn't up in NE yet. they are mostly down around New Jersey and Delaware, all the way down to the Carolina's. They like the 60-70 degree water, check out the NOAA for ocean temps around the Boston Harbor and Woods Hole. The right time to fish for stripers is summertime around here, see you out there.

Correction, the general population of stripers coming up the coast are around New Jersey, and more New York than Delaware. They will be up here soon enough.

are you going to be fishing from the shore or from a boat?<br /><br />there are many different techniques for each method, let me know and i'll see if i can give you my personal favorites.

I'll bite . I fish from a boat if you are offering. I've been saltwater fishing Cape Cod Bay for 3 years now with little success for the hours put in.<br /><br />Mike

Fratalia17 - I mostly fish from a boat but sometimes from shore. I'd be interested in hearing tactics for both. Again, sounds like Mcleaves and I are looking for advice on fishing for striper/blues in the south shore, MA area.<br /><br />Also - I need a new rod and reel. I'm cheap and saw a good selection at Wal-Mart. I want to bait cast and deep-water fish. Can I use the same combo for both and if so, what do you suggest?<br /><br />Thanks
