hi,
I have a 19 ft 81' ski supreme. the boat is in great condition and is fast, but everytime I get up to about 30mph the boat lists to port and rides tilted on the port side. Now when I get up to about 40 to 45mph the boat starts to cavitate. Now I know the old tournament boats are weight conscience and like to cavitate at high speed when it is alittle rough.
I just recently found some small pieces of would from in the bilge.. It might be the rear port stringer. could this be causing the boat to list to port at approx. 30mph???? can someone give some suggestions.... I was thinking oh trim tabs..

Re: stringers

Others may comment on the reason for the cavitation - - on the pieces of wood - - I would not be in a big hurry just yet in ripping out your stringers. Most manufacturers do not clean out all the construction debris that is laying on the hull when they put the inner liner or floor in. I don't know that that is what you are seeing but you need to check further before doing anything drastic. Is the floor sagging on the port side (or anywhere)? Are there any access plates that would allow you to examine the area under the floor?

jhoude,

I tend to disagree that the pieces of wood may be leftover. That would mean it took 23 years for them to show up.

If your stringers are soft, it can cause the bottom of the hull to flex. In your case, probably forming a hook which relates to drag. That can cause your list. The more power you put to it, the more the hull flexes and the deeper the hook.

Re: stringers

thanks for the suggestions, The floor is't sagging at all. the hook and dragging part makes sence... how hard is it though to just piece in some new wood into the rear of the port side stringer.. Or should I have someone do it for me... I was quated $2,400.00 for both strigers to be redone.
