Re: stringers

The stringer is the backbone of the boat. Hence if you get flexing you could be having problems. Another test might be where the deck joins the hull. Have seen the deck tear away the glass covering because the stringer was flexing.

The worse one I ever saw was in Crystal River, Fl. I went there for my dad's funeral and while there decided to fish. Bought a guide for a half day. His boat was horrible. The bottom actually pulsated as the boat went over waves/wakes. Couldn't wait to get back. Of course we didn't catch any fish. Grin.

Mark

More. If your boat sits on a trailer with only a couple of keel rollers and short bunks at the transom, if the keel is bowed while on the trailer, or if the hull bows (out of it's natural shape) you have problems.

HTH

Mark

Re: stringers

If your riding in boat try to listen to the hull for any rattling, or feel any vibration's when coming down off a wave, solid boat should have a nice clean thud when landing hard, also if boat has a walkthru windscreen, pay attention to the alignment from on side to the other and that the center portion closes and fits correctly. Check hull bottom for any signs of cracks along any strakes and or chines, this could be a good indication of a broken of rotted stringer also, but sometime's there is no way of knowing.
