I have a 1989 searay br16 with stringer rot. There is also a soft area in the front bow seat and two small areas in the floor. I have a guy set up to replace everything, but am wondering about the materials he wants to use. White oak for stringers, epoxied to the hull. And good grade exterior plywood for floors, with and epoxy coat and then glassed with poly. I have heard that epoxy wont adhear well to white oak, and wonder if marine grade ply would be better. Any thoughts would be appreciated. If I am going to have this done, I want it done right.

Re: stringer question

Your plan looks good to me. Have you checked the tramsom as usually they are the first to go?

Exterior is fine for the floor if glassed correctly.

Re: stringer question

Im not sure how to check the transom. Ive polked, prodded and knocked, but cant tell if there is rot in the transom. There are no soft spots that I can find. But I m not sure Im doing the right thing when inspecting it.
