Stringer 800 Parts

Does anyone have a good source of parts for a 1974 Stringer Electric Shift Outdrive? The particular part being the springs that keep breaking, 3rd one in 2 years. Any ideas why they keep breaking? I know it's old but the boat is a classic and these outdrives were always a problem, but I am always looking for a good idea to help.

1-idle is to high or RPM not returned to idle before shifting<br />2-spring not installed right,it should be turned into the gear and held snug while the set screws are tightened starting with the one closest to the tang and work around from there.<br />As for parts I know of a place up here (in Canada)but you could probbly find something closer on the web.
