Strange trim question

When my motor is at idle, and I hit the trim switch up or down, it seems to really pull the motor down and run very rough. I suspect a bad ground, but I haven't found it yet. Anyone else ever had this problem?

Thats a hi amp electric motor on your trim, when you use it, your alternator is maxing out, which in turn pulls on the engine, its normal.

I had the same problem, but it was solved when I installed a new alternator. If your alternator is ok, it could just be a loose connection.

Re: Strange trim question

I believe there are actually two circuits. The up draws much more current then the down. If you're having problems in both directions you should do some more invetigation or have a good marine mechanic check it out.

You may want to go to the Adult Only Section download the manual for your drive and read up on the trim motor and circuit.
