Strange problem with fuze blowing

First time I have run into this problem. Occasionally, when I shift from forward to reverse or visa versa, the ignition fuze will blow. When I replace it, it will work fine until the next "occasionally". BTW, the boat is an 89 Sea Ray, 220 DA. I've only owned it for the last few months. It is a bit disconcerting when you are trying to manuever into a dock, etc. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. TIA

You are creating a short-somewhere. I assume your boat is an I/O? Is your engine moving when you shift?

The other place to look is for wires running nearby or from your shift quadrant.

Another possibilty is your shift interupter switch shorting. You should post your question in the proper I/O section (Volvo/MerCruiser/OMC, etc.)

Agree with Fleetwin and my grandpa had one. On a light 14' boat with me in the bow and him on the helm we could get it to plane.

Re: Strange problem with fuze blowing

Sorry, that's information that should have been included. It is a 5.7 Chevy, brand new, by the way. The drive is an alpha 1 gen 1. I have checked all the wiring that I have access to. Sure wish there was a way to remove the starboard bulkhead for access to the back side of the controls. I have not tried adjusting the interrupter switch, as the last time I went to the lake, I forgot my tape measure. Thanks again
